The President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, is patron of ELAC for migrant elders.

"The improvement of the quality of life of elder persons with migrant background reflects concerns of the European Parliament. Our Institution is well known for its commitment to diversity and social inclusion of all groups of age and in particular to the rights of the elderly (...). It is therefore with great pleasure that I grant the patronage of the European Parliament to this competition" says Jerzy Buzek.

Jerzy Buzek was elected President of the European Parliament in July 2009. Of Polish nationality, Buzek is the first President from one of the 12 most recent EU Member States.
